time to mown, water and fertilize. But it is not just about water waste, or
excessive maintenance cost or the time, it is all about the sports' insurance
program for Teams or Leagues can be overwhelming making the safety of athletes
a number one priority in the sport's industry. GST synthetic turf solutions
designed upon innovative technologies guarantee the safety of the players as
well as the life-span of the initial investment. Although Grand Dame Stadium is
owned and operated by the SAISD, all San Antonians with even a casual interest
in sports lay their support for the field renovation and installations of the
synthetic turf.
Jim Gaffney, a World War II veteran who became a San Antonio
policeman and investigator, went down to the synthetic turf field on Saturday
opening night and walked on the turf. When the ceremony host called out his name
and told him to come down to the field and give a welcome speech, "it took [his]
breath away," said the veteran and a former Brackenridge San Antonio high
school football player. The new high school stadium was "just beautiful" and
had an emotional memory for the Gaffney. "Whoever did this deserve a lot of [acknowledgment.]
They did a great job". Alamo Stadium has always been a special place to him and
while standing on the artificial grass brought a lot of childhood memories, Griffney
commented to the San Antonio news officials.Located on Tuleta Street, just north of the city's
downtown off of 281 Highway, Alamo Stadium is a San Antonio treasure that
transcends sports. The people in charge of the renovation did an outstanding
job of maintaining the integrity of the structure while making much-needed
improvements to its infrastructure. In the end, Alamo Stadium was built at a
cost of just less than $500,000. The SAISD had to spend about $110,000 on the
renovations, including the synthetic turf. However, they said that the project and
the school district have gotten a good return on its investment.
